Fringed with fleshy tabs above the eyes that break up its outline, the decorated warbonnet hides among seaweed and in crevices of rocky reefs. It lives in subtidal water down to about ninety metres and grows to roughly forty centimetres, its long, eel like body wedged into the rocks.
