Dall's Porpoise

Phocoenoides dalli

Dall's Porpoise

Built like a torpedo, this stocky porpoise races through cold North Pacific water faster than almost any other small cetacean, throwing up a distinctive spray as it surfaces. It keeps to deep offshore water and narrow clear channels, chasing lanternfish and squid both at the surface and well below it.
