A small smooth hound shark of muddy and sandy shelf bottoms, this species also ventures into shallow brackish water. It feeds mainly on crustaceans, taking the occasional squid, fish or jelly relative, and bears litters of one to seven pups nourished by a yolk sac placenta. Listed as Endangered, it grows to about 77 centimetres.
