A small sawfish whose flat snout is lined with teeth like a blade, it works shallow coastal mudflats, mangroves and estuaries and pushes into brackish stretches of rivers. Pupping is thought to fall in the tropical wet season, and the young are born live. Heavy decline has left it Critically Endangered.
