A small deep sea anglerfish of the black midwater, the female carries a glowing lure to draw prey toward her cavernous mouth. It feeds heavily on crustaceans far below the reach of sunlight, down past 1,750 metres. Unusually for the group, the tiny males do not fuse onto the females as parasites.
