Bigspine Grunt

Pomadasys empherus

Bigspine Grunt

A rare grunt collected in estuaries that may push into fresh water, it reaches about 21 centimetres. Too little is known of its numbers and range for a firm conservation assessment. Like other grunts it grinds its throat teeth to make the sounds that give the family its name.
