A large seerfish that swims more than 300 kilometres up the Mekong above Phnom Penh chasing easy prey, the Chinese seerfish still returns to the sea to breed. It reaches well over two metres and is a prized food fish eaten fried, broiled or smoked. The IUCN lists it as Near Threatened.
