Tonga Grouper

Epinephelus chlorocephalus

Tonga Grouper

Known from a single specimen collected near Tonga during a French expedition in the late 1820s, this grouper has never been reliably seen since. Nothing certain is recorded of its habits, and the lack of any further specimens leaves its biology a genuine blank.
