A slender sillago of silty and muddy bottoms, the western trumpeter favours the shallows inside Shark Bay, with large adults working gutters and sandbars and moving into deeper embayment water. Juveniles gather near seaweed banks and mangrove creeks, and the fish spawns in several batches.
