Stout and slow, this burrfish inflates into a spiny ball when a predator gets too close, jamming itself into a crevice. It lives close to the surface around coral reefs and seagrass beds, rarely deeper than about thirteen metres, and grazes on hard shelled invertebrates with its fused beak.
