A jawfish that digs and defends its own burrow, the bullseye jawfish hangs at the mouth of its hole on sand and rubble bottoms around 20 metres down. It snaps up both benthic and drifting invertebrates and ducks back into its shaft tail first at any threat. It reaches about 12 centimetres.
