A blunt headed bottom shark of Australian rocky reefs, the crested hornshark crushes sea urchins, crabs and shellfish with flat grinding teeth at the back of its jaws. It lays spiral egg cases fitted with long curling tendrils that anchor them among weed and rocks. It lives close inshore down to about ninety metres.
