Y-Barred Sandperch

A sandperch of lagoon and seaward reef floors, this fish props itself on the bottom over sand and rubble and is large enough and bold enough to let a diver approach. Like many of its kind it begins life female and can switch to male later. It grows to about 21 centimetres.
