This slender, almost transparent pearlfish lives inside the shell of pearl oysters and other large bivalves, sliding into the mantle cavity for shelter. It ventures out to hunt crustaceans and polychaete worms, and pairs of fish often share a single host. It also takes up residence inside sea cucumbers.
