Each of these shrimpgobies hovers at the mouth of a rubble lined burrow dug by an alpheid shrimp, dropping inside the instant it is disturbed. It keeps to sand and rubble slopes and small sand patches at the undercut bases of reefs, between about 20 and 40 metres.
