The goldspot goby works open sand, rock and rubble, taking mouthfuls of sand and sieving out tiny animals and organic scraps before spitting the grains back through its gills. It often shares ground with the bridled goby and ranges from the surface down to about 50 metres, reaching some eight centimetres.
