Golden and palm sized, this damselfish favours current swept outer reef walls and deep lagoons rich in gorgonians and long sea whips, on which it lays and guards its eggs. The young shelter among big sea fans and black corals, and the adults pick plankton from the passing water down to about sixty metres.
