An intertidal goby with a homing instinct, the frillfin returns to the same rocky tide pool again and again, navigating by memory of the surrounding terrain. It lives over sand and mud in pools, lagoons, creeks, estuaries and mangrove swamps, and tolerates a wide swing in salinity.
