A small inshore shark of coral reefs, rocky shores and mangrove estuaries, the Arabian carpetshark tucks into crevices and holes by day. It hunts squid, shelled molluscs, crustaceans and even snake eels, and lays eggs rather than bearing live young. Caught rarely in inshore nets, it is rated near threatened.
