A bold little dottyback of coastal patch reefs, this fish is fiercely territorial and will bite the camera housings of divers and kill tankmates in an aquarium. It keeps to soft bottom slopes, alone or in pairs. Despite its small size, around twelve centimetres, it gives no ground.
