The pink anemonefish lives nestled among the tentacles of host anemones such as Heteractis magnifica, unharmed by the stings that drive off other fish. Every fish begins life male, and the dominant one of a monogamous pair becomes the female. It reaches about ten centimetres on lagoon and seaward reefs.
