This slender pipefish lives in small groups on solitary mushroom corals, often nestling among the tentacles of Heliofungia, in a commensal relationship with its host. It keeps to coastal reefs along shallow drop offs between about 10 and 20 metres, and the male broods the eggs beneath his tail.
