Encased in a rigid bony box with a forward pointing horn on its snout, this boxfish moves slowly over rubble and sand in channels and deep lagoons around coral. It picks at small bottom invertebrates and is generally an uncommon sight. When stressed it can release a toxin into the water from its skin.
