This sabretooth blenny lives alone over sandy reef flats and shallow lagoons, where small juveniles hitch a ride beneath the upside down jelly Cassiopea for safe passage across open sand. Females nest inside empty mollusc shells, gluing the eggs to the wall until they hatch.
