Encased in bony armour with broad winglike fins, this little seamoth creeps over muddy and sandy seabed inshore, often among seagrass, down to about fifty metres. It can bury itself in the sediment and shift colour to match the bottom, and large numbers gather in estuary shallows. It grows to roughly nine centimetres.
