A master of disguise, this frogfish settles into recesses and along walls on rocky reefs and blends so well it can pass for an encrusting sponge or a cluster of tube snails. It walks on armlike fins rather than swimming much, stays tiny at about 8 centimetres and lives from the surface to nearly 40 metres.
