A small bristlemouth of the open ocean dark, it rises to about a hundred and twenty five to three hundred metres at night and sinks back to five hundred metres and deeper by day. It scatters tiny eggs and larvae into the plankton and grows to roughly ten centimetres. Bristlemouths like this are among the most numerous fish on Earth.
