A small rounded sole of shallow coastal waters under twenty metres, it readily enters lagoons and even fresh water along the eastern Pacific. It lies flat on the bottom feeding on crustaceans, worms and small fish, sometimes taking detritus, and reaches about twenty three centimetres.
