This mudskipper breathes air and shuttles between tide pools and open mud, creeping across the flats at low tide to graze diatoms and retreating to a burrow as the tide rises. Reaching about eighteen centimetres, it is caught for food and used in Chinese medicine. The species is vulnerable.
