This snook divides its life between coast and river, most abundant in estuaries of any size but pushing well inland, reaching elevations of at least two hundred and fifty metres some twenty kilometres from the sea. It hunts fish and crustaceans in fresh and brackish water. It grows to about sixty five centimetres.
