A small killifish of tidal flats and creeks, it lives mostly in salt water but tolerates brackish conditions, scattered with bright gold flecks across its sides. Unlike the seasonal killifishes of drying pools, it does not need an annual dry spell to complete its life. It proves hard to keep alive in aquariums.
