A thumb sized clingfish, Hector's clingfish uses a sucker on its belly to grip rock among brown algae in low tide pools and just below. When disturbed it darts for cover and hangs head up and tail down, sculling with its pectoral fins to pass for a drifting frond. It reaches barely 6 centimetres.
