A shy little hamlet of Caribbean reefs, it keeps close to the bottom near staghorn coral and usually travels in pairs. Like other hamlets it is a hermaphrodite, each fish carrying both eggs and sperm, and partners take turns playing male and female when they spawn. It reaches about 13 centimetres.
