A tiny, gelatinous snailfish only about seven centimetres long, it drifts and rests in the deep open ocean and has been caught more than three thousand metres down. Unlike many of its relatives it lacks the sucking disc on its belly, and its soft, almost see through body suits a life in the cold dark.
