This wobbegong lies flat and motionless on algae covered rock and coral by day, its mottled skin and frilled face blending into the reef. At night it prowls the bottom for fish and invertebrates, and a careless diver who steps on or corners one can be bitten. It bears live young and grows to nearly three metres.
