A flat, ray like fish of shallow West African sand and mud bottoms, the striped panray reaches about a metre and crushes mollusks, shrimps and other bottom invertebrates. It bears small litters of one to four pups after a short pregnancy, and is rated Vulnerable as inshore fishing pressure mounts.
