By night the witch guitarfish hunts small fishes and prawns over rocky and sandy bottoms of the continental shelf, down to about 150 metres. It grows to nearly 80 centimetres, bears live young, and turns up often as bycatch in gillnet and prawn trawls, which has left it vulnerable.
