This corallimorph carpets rocky reef bottoms in the warm western Atlantic with rounded, jewel like discs ringed in short knobbed tentacles. Closely related to anemones but lacking a hard skeleton, it feeds on sunlight through algae in its tissue as well as on small drifting prey.
