A small cuttlefish of shallow coastal waters, the shortclub cuttlefish hangs over the bottom down to around a hundred metres and grows a mantle only a few centimetres long. Like its relatives it hovers on rippling fins and shoots out two long arms to seize shrimp and small fish, and it is swept up in coastal trawls. So little is recorded of its numbers that it is rated data deficient.
