A silvery, protrusible mouthed fish of clear coastal sand flats, the strongspine silver biddy darts forward to pick small prey from the bottom and reaches about forty five centimetres. Young fish enter estuaries and lagoons fed by fresh water, staying in the shallows over sand until they mature.
