Colorful Moonsnail

Naticarius canrena

Colorful Moonsnail

The colorful moonsnail glides over coral reef sand and mangrove bottoms on a broad fleshy foot, leaving a furrowed trail. Like other moonsnails it hunts buried clams, drilling a neat round hole through the shell to reach the flesh, and works from the subtidal down to about 100 metres.
