Many-Ribbed Ark

Larkinia multicostata

Many-Ribbed Ark

A ribbed ark clam that buries in sand from shallow water out to about 130 metres. The deep grooves running across its shell give the family its name, and its blood carries the red pigment that lets these clams cope with low oxygen sediment.
