Hairy Philobrya

Philobrya setosa

Hairy Philobrya

A tiny byssus anchored clam barely a centimetre long, the hairy philobrya fastens onto broken shells and coralline algae from the shore down to about seventy metres. Fine bristles fringe its small shell, and it broods its young rather than scattering them to the water.
