Savigny's Jewel Box

A jewel box clam that cements one valve hard onto reef rock and coral in lagoon shallows down to about 80 metres. Once anchored it never moves again, filtering the water through the gape between its rugged, often frilled shells. People gather it for food and grind the shells for lime.
