Named for its tapering, tiger striped body, this sea cucumber feeds by night and shelters by day on sandy patches among coral rubble, rocks and boulders, preferring water deeper than about 10 metres. It reaches around 25 centimetres and sifts edible scraps from the sediment it crawls over.
