A soft bottom octopus reaching about 20 centimetres, the plain spot octopus turns up on intertidal mudflats and out across muddy, sandy and shelly seabeds and seagrass beds down to roughly 84 metres. Like its relatives it can squeeze its boneless body into the smallest of dens.
