Yellow Foot ‘opihi

Cellana sandwicensis

Yellow Foot ‘opihi

This Hawaiian limpet, the opihi, clamps to wave battered rock right at the zero tide mark where the splash never stops. Often masked by a fuzz of seaweed, it grazes coralline algae and is gathered along the shore as a prized local food.
