Spear Shrimp

Mierspenaeopsis hardwickii

Spear Shrimp

The spear shrimp lives on mud, sandy mud and sand from the coastline out to about ninety metres, with the young growing up in estuaries and backwaters. Like most penaeid prawns it feeds along the bottom as an omnivore, sifting whatever the sediment yields.
