A burrow dwelling jawfish of current swept sand and rubble plains at around twenty five to thirty metres, it digs a tunnel and hovers above the entrance, ready to dart back in. It grows to only about nine centimetres and, like other jawfishes, the male broods the eggs in his mouth.
