This goby favours brightly lit surfaces of living brain coral or algae crusted coral remnants in shallow water between about 3 and 8 metres. It holds still until a diver is almost on top of it, then darts a short distance before returning to its spot, and a narrow range leaves it listed as Vulnerable.
